how to make full moon water

Moon Water Full Moon

Have you heard people talk about Moon water and wonder what it is?

Full Moon water is a beautiful bit of magic tapping into the natural cycles of the moon, a practice that dates back to the 1800s with its beginnings associated with witchcraft. It allows you to work with the energies more closely, expanding your power and potential by letting things go making way for the new to come in.

The Moon has a powerful relationship with Mother Nature and scientifically - the moon's gravity pulls at the Earth, causing predictable rises and falls in sea levels known as tides. To a much smaller extent, tides also occur in lakes, the atmosphere, and within Earth's crust (according to space.com).

This effect can happen in nature, think about how the Moon can affect us internally, and has been noted to have an increase in female cycles and birth rates. Throughout history, women were more fertile around the New Moon and there were noticeably higher birth rates around the Full Moon ( thescientist.com).  So coming back to our ancestral ways of living and honouring the cycles of nature is a beautiful gift to receive, we must honour it when we feel drawn.

So let's make Moon Water…

It’s very simple and easy to do to enhance your ritual, adding more magic and energy into your daily life.

You do want to be mindful of what zodiac the Moon falls in, depending on what you want to use it for…as each holds its own energies and properties. For example, this Full Moon is a beautiful one for working on relationships, perhaps bringing in a romantic relationship, showing up more for yourself, and letting love in. If you were wanting more practicality and grounding you would choose the Full Moon of a Virgo or Capricorn…that sense of grounding and structure helps you put things in line and organised.

A little note to point out is not to create Moon water when it’s an Eclipse as this energy is a little heavier and working with our shadows…we want to be facing them head-on and releasing them not bringing them back in.

To create Moon water simply fund a glass, jar, container, or perhaps something a little fancier – whatever calls your name and fill it with bottled water, tap water, or filtered water. Attach an affirmation or prayer to the glass or next to or underneath trusting it will be infused with the water.

You can place the glass outside (covered) to allow the Moon to shine brightly and infuse this water or perhaps you don’t have the space so a window sill will work also! You can even choose to leave some crystals such as amethyst,  rose quartz, moonstone, and clear quartz to enhance the properties but also to charge.

The next day removes the water and you have water filled with magical Moon properties. You can use this drink directly, place it on your altar, in your bath, in a spray bottle to add to your home or boil some to add to your cup of tea.

And there you are – fresh Moon Water! So simple and beautiful adding a new element to your Full Moon honouring that is yours to do as you, please. You might want to keep a label on the glass so you remember which Zodiac sign you were working with so you’re not wondering why you aren’t feeling disciplined and feeling more romantic!

Hope this helps and look forward to hearing how you have created your Moon water and what you intend to do with it.

Love and gratitude,

Assunta x
